While fans wait for the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar Games has made updates and improvements to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition. While many fans have praised the updates and the added polish to the remastered classics from Rockstar Games, not everyone is as elated with the new look to the Definitive Edition. CEO of Grove Street Games, Thomas Williamson, took to X to speak his mind on his team “not being credited” in the recent update.
Speaking entire hypothetically: It’s a dick move to remove primary developers from credits in an update, especially when an update includes hundreds of fixes that were provided by those developers that stayed out of players’ hands for years.

However, despite Williamson’s gripes, many on X have responded in defense of Rockstar Games, noting that the Grove Street Games was credited in the post game credits and were only denied a “splash” screen credit.
PSA: Rumours being circulated by the community and even some news websites about Grove Street Games (GSG) having been removed from the #GTATrilogy entirely are unfounded.
Both GSG and Video Games Deluxe are in the final credits, only the initial splash screen was removed. pic.twitter.com/MUkvgi2uZX— GTANet (@GTANet) November 14, 2024
Other X users took the opportunity to respond to Williamson’s Tweet with their irritation with the version of the game Grove Street Games released.
You screwed up the 360 port, you screwed up the mobile port, you screwed up the definitive edition.
3 opportunities
3 failuresAnd an insult to the fans who loved this media, im so confused how Rockstar chose you guys.

speaking entire hypothetically: you guys could have just not ruined 3 classic games the first time & rockstar wouldnt have had to come in & clean up your spilled milk. your company shouldnt even be acknowledged by the gta community anymore tbh lol

Williamson didn’t respond to these comments and Rockstar Games hasn’t responded to his initial comments.
