Call of Duty has been a pillar of video games for a long time, so long that it has created popular sub-series like Modern Warfare and Black Ops. These two have been the most popular Call of Duty titles since they released. Today, Microsoft and the Call of Duty team have announced that Black Ops 6 had the biggest 3-day opening weekend ever.

“Thank you to our players around the world for making Black Ops 6 the biggest Call of Duty launch ever,” Matt Cox, SVP, GM of Call of Duty said. “Our goal from the start has been to bring this great game to as many players as possible wherever they are, however they play. Black Ops 6 is an amazing game, and the response from the Call of Duty community has been incredible. This is only the beginning. Nuketown is only days away and Season 1 is right around the corner. We’re just getting started.”

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella noted that unit sales on PlayStation and PC were up over 60 percent compared to last year. Nadella also said that Black Ops 6 led to a record setting for day one players and Game Pass subscriber add ons on launch day.

“Last week’s launch of Black Ops 6 was the biggest Call of Duty release ever, setting a record for day one players, as well as Game Pass subscriber adds on launch day. Unit sales on PlayStation and Steam were also up over 60 percent year-over-year,” Nadella said in a earnings call today.

Season 1 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to release in a couple of weeks on November 14. The biggest thing it will bring will be the new Resurgance map for Warzone Area 99 which is a top-secret government site where Nuketown began. Speaking of Nuketown, the popular map returns to Black Ops 6 on Friday, November 1.

Season 1 will add new multiplayer maps, modes, a new in-season Zombies map, and it will bring in Omnimovement and Black Ops 6 weapons and Loadout features to Call of Duty: Warzone.
