On June 7th, 2023 during the 2024 Summer Games Fest, Riot Games – through VALORANT’s executive producer Andy Ho and Production Director Arnar Gylfason – revealed that their 5v5 tactical shooter VALORANT is officially coming to consoles (Xbox Series X|S and PS5 consoles).
Starting next week on June 14th, a limited beta will be released in the US, the UK, Canada, Europe, and Japan. There is a possibility of rolling out the beta release in other regions after the initial beta release. Players are able to find more info about the limited beta release including sign up information at Beta.PlayVALORANT.com or riot.com/VALBeta.
✅ cross-progression
✅ cross-inventory
❌ cross-play https://t.co/hX3mtHi3XU— VALORANT (@VALORANT) June 8, 2024
According to an official quote-post from the VALORANT X account, there is no crossplay between console and PC. This choice was made due to the developers wanting an “uncompromising, competitive experience [Riot Games] has been providing to players for years” in a tactical shooter.
There is, however, cross progression and cross inventory. Consoles and PCs will not have staggered updates. They will share simultaneous releases on patching, agents, maps, content, and other live service miscellany.
There are some minor tweaks in the form of “custom-built VALORANT gameplay” for the console according to official statements. For example, console gaming has the ‘Focus’ feature. ‘Focus’ reduces sensitivity so that non-ADS-ing shooting (shooting without zooming in) is more fluid while the player moves the camera and centers their aiming.
Similar to PC, console players are also able to change their configuration for their controllers.
