On May 13th, 2024, digital tabletop service One More Multiverse is shutting down. In an official statement issued from their website, the developers said players would have 90 days to download any progress and assets they have for their campaigns before the databases of OMM would be shut down and wiped.
One More Multiverse is a unique spin on digital platforms used for TTRPGs such as D&D – similar to Roll20, players can control characters across a map. But One More Multiverse is more than that: players can create cinematics through customizable pixel art characters, effects, and camera motion. The assets are also collaborative within the community: assets are able to be uploaded and downloaded, as well as modified.
The team behind One More Multiverse consists of 32 individuals – from artists to engineers to marketing, the team managed to create a tool that would garner notice from organizations such as Kotaku and Critical Role. It took the team, which initially started as a group of five friends, three years to develop the platform before releasing it post early-access on April 27th, 2023. OMM would go on to have collaborations and crossovers with other TTRPGs such as Yazebas and Blades in the Dark.
One More Multiverse’s Discord server will stay up as a community hub despite the service itself terminating.
