Following the technical stream which showcased the protagonist Melinoe’s abilities and some other new enemies and boons/inventory systems, players are now able to experience it for themselves without applying for beta access. Players will learn that Melinoe is delving back down to the Underworld unlike her brother Zagreus in the first Hades game because the titan Kronos has been released and Melinoe herself cannot get in contact with her family, Hades included.
Some new content not seen from the technical stream but from the early access drop include Melinoe meeting Narcissus – the myth of the man who fell in love with his own reflection – and Hestia, goddess of the hearth. Chaos, a recurring character from the first game, has a completely different design from the first game, almost mirroring Meg’s design from the first game with the hairstyle and wings. There are also new character portraits in what seems to be a spring scene. Chaos in Hades II holding a head from Chaos’s Hades design. A character portrait of Nemesis unique to a spring scene in Hades II. Odysseus, Melinoe, and Moros also have unique portraits for this section.
According to IGN, Hades II reached a peak of 79,276 players on Steam within nine hours of the early access release. Hades (2020) has an all-time peak of 37,749 players.
As of now, there is no official date of when Hades II will come out of early access.
