Earlier this month, CEO Andrew Byatt at Blaze Entertainment revealed that they were the subject of a suspected targeted robbery and thousands of Limited Edition Evercade EXP consoles were stolen. The stock was moving between warehouses and was to be distributed to all UK, USA, and rest of world customers. The EU stock was not affected and arrived at the European warehouse successfully. Blaze Entertainment has been working with the police, evaluating the situation, and defining a plan of action since learning of the theft.
“We at Blaze are hugely frustrated and angry that this has occurred, and with these products so close to release the timing could not be worse. We have shared all the information, including evidence of theft, with the UK Police and we await news of their investigations,” Byatt said at the time. “Whilst we are hopeful of recovering the stock, we expect this to be challenging and time-consuming. We are working hard on making this right for Limited Edition customers. Please be aware that the EXP Limited Edition could only be purchased from Funstock.co.uk and is no longer on sale. Any other sources are likely stolen goods.”
In a letter to the community talking about the year in review, Byatt provided an update on the situation. “At this time the Police have not located the stock and when we see any suspicious online listings we are reporting them,” he said. “We will update you if anything changes in their investigation and customers will have already received the lastest update from Evercade on their orders.”
Addressing what Evercade’s plans are for 2023, Byatt announced that 11 new cartridges have been signed as of today with more deals being negotiated. “We aim to bring you more variety, more big names, more hidden gems and games from other systems we have not yet seen on Evercade. We have some exciting things coming your way.”
