When the new God of War was unveiled at E3 2016, many gamers were excited for the next installment in the beloved PlayStation series. However, there were some people who were particularly bothered by the total absence of gameplay shown at PSX this year. But now it looks like some of those worries may be misplaced, thankfully. SIE Santa Monica just hit a major milestone with the game. Director Cory Barlog revealed to a fan on Twitter that God of War is now playable from start to finish, and the developers just finished their first play-through very recently. This, of course, doesn’t mean the game is anywhere near finished–most likely, its just a very early alpha with placeholder enemies and unfinished textures–but this is a major step in the completion of the game and could mean we will be seeing the finished product sometime next year.
Back in September, Barlog stated that SIE Santa Monica is aiming to push the boundaries of the PS4 the way previous God of War games did to previous consoles. Some die-hard fans of the series are skeptical about the new Nordic inspired direction of the game. According to an article on Gamezone, Barlog responded with this:
Sorry if you are not liking the new stuff. Hopefully, you’ll wait to play before writing us off completely. The ace is awesome.
A few weeks ago, Balrog announced that God of War wouldn’t be shown at PSX, but was quick to follow that up by saying that fans would be seeing something from the game soon and that it would be awesome. Hopefully, he doesn’t keep us waiting too long.
