According to Gematsu, Corpse Party for the Nintendo 3DS will become available on October 25th in the west. This includes North America, Europe, and Australia. For those unfamiliar with Corpse Party, it is a horror game from Japan that has garnered quite the cult following since its original 2011 release on the PSP. This version of Corpse Party on the 3DS is a remaster of that original 2011 PSP game. The plot revolves around a group of students that accidently take part in a pagan ritual. After the ritual the students are transported to another space. They are taken to an abandoned and shut down school where a number of horrifying murders took place and the students must now survive their new environment.
This remastered version of the original Corpse Party will feature redrawn and updated character sprites. The sprites will now also be high definition. There will also be new arranged music for this 3DS release. The audio has also gotten an upgrade; this version of the game will include binaural audio to enhance the horror experience. There will also be 3D art stills in Corpse Party. There is also something of interest for people who were fans of the original, this version will include 4 new chapters to the story that explore more obscure characters in the original story and provide explanations to elements of the plot that were left open ended.
The western release of this cult horror game coincides with Halloween in the west. Corpse Party will be available as a digital release with a physical release in North America. These releases will be priced differently. The digital version of Corpse Party will be available for $29.99 USD and physically as the “Back to School Edition” for $49.99 USD in North America.
Corpse Party: Back to School Edition will include the following according to Gamestop’s online listing:
